Maurica McDougale
LCSW
psychotherapist
Maurica believes that the therapeutic relationship is a fluid continuum in which the client decides where it may land. Maurica aims to show up as her genuine, authentic self working with clients to create a space that elicits growth, resilience, and empowerment. This may mean challenging norms, encouraging vulnerability, or allowing space for discomfort, all the while utilizing a strengths based perspective to assist in achieving client goals. Maurica understands in depth the impact of identity and environmental factors on a client’s perspective and navigation of their world, thus, providing a holistic approach to overall wellbeing.
Maurica is passionate about social justice change, raising awareness, increasing accessibility, and decreasing stigma, especially for minority and underserved populations. She believes that therapy and support for one’s mental health is a right, not a privilege. That in order for society to produce individuals that feel whole, we must embrace that mental health is health. Therapy is the catalyst for healing from generational trauma, oppression, and the maladaptive norms that have been created to survive. It’s a space where you define who you are, what that means, and why it matters. It’s reclamation and discovery. It’s solace. Maurica looks forward to the opportunity to support you, wherever you may be in your journey.
